Question
I have a 12mth old great dane who is a really fussy eater. I have tried 5 different dry foods and he eats it for a couple of days then isnt interested anymore. He loves to eat dog roll but he also needs the goodness of a dry food. He is looking a little skinny. What can I feed him to put on weight or anything else you could advise me?

Answer
Feed him a super premium dog food, those taste better and are better for dogs than the store brands that you see advertised on tv. The BARF diet is the best diet out there for dogs but that can get to be tricky trying to figure it out everyday.
Otherwise try putting a little bit of warm water in it, dry foods dry out after being open for awhile and by putting warm water in it, the smell of the ingredients like the meats and gravys are brought out again. KEeping the food in an air tight container or making sure you roll the bag shut down to the level of the food can help keep the food fresher which might help the disinterest.
Also make sure he is on a feeding schedule, dogs who have food available through out the day don't always get the amount they need to stay healthy because it's always there so they just pick at it throughout the day or eat too much and gain too much weight or get bloat. Feed him half his food in the morning and half at night,or all in the morning or all at night.
I'm not sure if you elevate his food or not but if you get an elevated feeder that might help too, Gerat Danes are so tall it's hard and uncomfortable for them to reach down to the ground to eat.
