Question
I'm picking up a 10mth greatdane boy soon,I've found out he has never been in a house(bought at 8 wks and put outside)only understands no and has never been on a leash. He also wets with excitement(I think attention)I want him in the house and I have 3 kids and a friendly girl staffy any advise would be appreciated for smooth intro to family and positive training.

Answer
A ten-month-old dane is big, heavy and strong.  He will probably raise havoc in the house.  Move all ornaments and breakables above five feet or shut in safe cupboard.

He should soon learn to go outside to wee etc.  Every time he wakes or eats TAKE him outside and STAY WITH HIM until he has done something.  Then praise and give a biscuit.

For lead training go to your local dog training club, list in the library or from the Kennel Club.

If the Staffie isn't speyed he will try to mate her when she comes into season.

This is a task I wou;dn't relish and I have had them for 30+ years and introduced adult males and females into an existing pack.

Good luck.
