12 week old Dane is starving & in pain

Question
Hi,  Daughter bought a female dane in May and she was doing fine until after her 2nd set of shots 4 weeks ago. She slowly quit eating.  She looks like the starving dogs on Animal Police.  She has been to the vet several times, lots of calls, and sent to a specialist in Tulsa.  Blood work has been run (slightly elevated white count... all else in normal limits).  An ultra sound to check for blockage was performed and that was fine.  X-rays of legs were taken and a hair line mark was notated as a possible bone problem.  She snapped at the vet when he checked out her bones in legs and spine.  My daughter says she will whine when moved sometimes.  She was put on a powerful ant-inflammatory for the pain, and we force fed her Science Diet Recovery.  This went well for a couple of days and she started eating this on her own and getting up more often and licking faces, etc.  (she has been VERY lethargic).  She would eat bits of other human food, as well.  The last two days, she has had a relapse.  Barely eats the SD Recovery when force fed, whines again, and won't get up.  The vet has admitted to not being a Dane expert.  My daughter has spent $800 in the last week trying to find out what to do.  We are desperate.  We don't want to lose this pup.  She has grown several inches taller in the last month but only gained about 2 pounds. The vet said it is IMPERATIVE that she eats... NOW.  Help!!!  Thank you.

Answer
No such thing as a dane expert, they are just like other dogs just larger.

She is obviously very sick and in pain, try a strong analgesic like Rimadyl.

Try breast of lamb, boned and minced mixed with terrier biscuit wetted with gravy.  Get off the Science Diet, it's too expensive and no better than cheaper quality foods.  If she will eat human food give her that and when she is better wean her back onto dog food that is better for her.
