waking in the night

We have a 10 month old GD male when at home, wakes up in the middle of the night and whines to go out to the bathroom (going #2). When my husband takes him to work out of town, he never gets up. Do you think this is a habit now that he is in? Feedings are on a schedule and we limit the amount he drinks at night and we always take him out before we go to bed. He eats Eagle Pack and are in the process of taking raw hides away as he has a sensitive stomach.

It seems to me that you have created a pattern from him, however, if he is consistently going number 2 when you do let him out, and not just going out because he feels like it, I suggest that you not stress over it too much. When your husband does take him with out of town, he is in a new environment and it is not his normal environment, which is the reason why he doesn't poop. Sometimes dogs get so stressed out when they are not in their normal surroundings, they will not sure the bathroom because of the stress.
