Question
Hi, My husband and I rescued a 3 year old Great Dane, she is deaf, when my husband is here, she goes out with him into the woods, my husband went back offshore 2 days ago, and I have been doing my best to take her outside and walk, event try to play although i think she doesn't know how to play, I cant go into the woods because bugs follow me like crazy, so when she is inside with me, she kind a sleeps all the time, even when i try to get her to play, she wakes up every 10 or 15 min I think to check if we or me still there... and next week a  might start on a 8 to 5 job for a couple of weeks and I don't know what to do... can you help me?

Answer
Danes normally are not a very active breed, however, like most dogs they will adjust to your energy level. If your husband is fairly active, she goes with him and runs in the woods. If you have a more laid back personality, then she is right there with you. Most Danes sleep 18-20 hours out of the day. And yes, she maybe a little depressed, but give her some good treats, a kong toy filled with peanut butter and she will be just fine! I hope this helps. If you are worried about leaving her at home you can always try doggie daycare if she gets along with other dogs.
