I am 11 years old and getting a great dane puppy for my birhtday, it is a harlequin and is 6 weeks old. What are some really good dane names you have ran across.

Answer
Try to be original.  Scooby Doo has been done to death.  We use ordinary names for ours.  Look at its kennel name and see if that suggests anything.

By the way you'll get fed up with comments like

'You could put a saddle on that'.

'You could ride him'.

'How much does he eat a day'.  Answer 'one postman or one idiot'. etc

'Where does he sleep, anywhere he pleases?'

Don't teach him to do tricks, its undignified.

Do take him to a local show/ringcraft training class where they will teach YOU pet training so that you can train the dog.  Don't go to obedience classes.  It is a special skill to train a dane for obedience and you are too young and inexperienced to do it without breaking his spirit.  A dane that cowers is a pityful sight.  Be gentle with the training, just two minutes twice a day is sufficient.

I always tell people I can train a dog with two minutes a day in a week.  A human takes more than a month.
