nuetering

Question
I recently bought a full euro male from Excalibur Danes in Vine Grove, KY and his pedigree is tremendous. (Bragging here!) I bred him to a beautiful 37" tall 165lb mismarked mantle bitch and altho I strive to breed color pure she has a brindle on her paternal granddam side and she herself is not colorpure.  Her offspring will produce colorpure pedigrees on the AKC 3 gen. pedigree and we bred her to Conan (our full euro male) and she has 8 beautiful puppies that we are selling on a limited reg. only.  At what age should one nueter a great dane?  Conan is pushing 200 lbs
an I expect these babies to be huge as adults.

Answer
While the recommended age for spaying/neutering is 6 months, there are some that will do it at 5 months if the dog is developed enough. But again, 6 months is the norm for neutering and is recommended because that's when hormones start to kick in more because the testicles have usually both dropped fully by that time so that's when the best time would be to nip any problem behaviors in the butt that can be caused by being intact.
