Shy Great Dane

Question
I have a 15 week old Black Great Dane.  She is very healthy, weighing 42lbs.  We got her when she was just about 9 weeks and since then have started training classes.  We have 2 Jack Russels that she gets along great with.  My problem is, my Dane tends to be shy when meeting new people.  I take her to all my kid's sport games, I walk her around the neighborhood, her training is with other dogs and people.  I take her almost everywhere but she still will get behind me when people come up to her.  She is great with the family, its just strangers.  I'm not sure what more I can do to get her to be more friendly.  Any advice would be great!

Answer
Keep up the good work with socializing her, take it slow, if she doesn't want to say hi right away we don't want to force her as that will likely cause her to shy away more. Let her meet and greet at her own pace, advise people to approach slowly and quietly because she is shy, lets try and get her to go to them. Encourage her with treats and praise and ask your training class instructor to help you get her through this. Your instructor will no doubt be more than happy to answer any questions you have and want to help you work her through the shyness. It's not that she's being unfriendly & this isn't really a flaw, she's just a shy gal and is cautious..
