Question
okay everone is telling me different things. I'm getting a great dane puppy and I can not figure out rather I should feed a high protein diet or not? which food would be good for him? I was planning on feeding eukanuba Large breed puppy. some people feeed high protein some say don't which is right?

Answer
This was a previously asked question. But to answer yours directly, Great Dane puppies should not eat a food with more than 24-25% protein, so you want to stay on the lower side. What is more important is to make sure that the food has a good meat as the main ingredient, not a by-product or meal type (chicken meal, beef meal) and no corn starches.

My food of choice is Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. This is a GREAT high quality food for around the same price as Eukanuba, it just does not contain fillers, by products, corn meal and starches and has a meat with a low protein.

The reason you do not want to do a high protein with a Dane Baby is that it will make their bones grown too quickly, which can cause bone deformities, HOD and Wobblers. I am including a link directly to the site where you can read all about the food and look up reviews and what customers think about it...

There is also a Where to Buy link where you can put in your zip code to allow you to see the closest place that will sell this food.

It may be a bit more expensive but the outcomes are incredible, good poop, and not a lot because the dogs are pulling most of the nutrients without much waste, and very nice muscle tone when exercised properly and a great shiny coat...
