Slim Great Dane

Question
I have a two year old fawn male Great Dane and he seems too thin to me---He is 36" at the shoulder and weighs about 133 pounds.  You see his ribs, back bone, and hip bones.  I feed IAMS large breed chow and usually open a can of food and mix half of it with his dry food.  He never eats all I feed so it is not feeding enough.  Is he like a teenage boy that is skinny and will fill out later.  Please advise.

Answer
Forget the IAMS and all the other expensive foods and find a complete food without additives  and artifical colourings and flavourings, preferably made locally.  Mix it with raw minced tripe.  If you can't stand tripe get your butcher to bone and mince brisket of beef of lamb and feed that.  You need plenty of carbohydrate to put weight on.  Feed twice daily and wet the complete food.  A good quality biscuit meal will probably put the weight on.

Don't over exercise, a mile a day is plenty until his shape improves.
