Question
I just took my female great dane to get bred i just brought her home yesterday and he had her for to weeks and she lost a lot of weight he said they locked so she should be pregnant but she is discharging a slimmy yellow discharge and a lot of it. she acts tired and her nose has been running she hasnt been eating like she used to. can someone tell me if this is normal and if not what is wrong??

Answer
I would say this is not normal and she shouldbe taken to a vet immediately.
My sister in law bred her dog twice and both times the dog stil acted normal after returning home.
I don'tnow alot about breeding dogs but I do know that alot of things can go wrong if you don't now what you're doing. You should never take your dog to someone who has not seriously studied breeding and can provide references that can tell you he\she is experienced and knows what they are doing and that includes what t do if complications occur. For the same reasons you should never breed your dog if you don't know everyting about it AND because there are over 7 million homeless dogs in the U.S. and the HSUS and AVMA estimate that 3.5 million of them are euthanized each year because there are not enough homes and by breeding yor dog just because you love it or think it'd be neat to have a litter of puppies you are contrirbuting to the overpopulation problem. If you are not breeding to better the breed standards or because you have a dog that exceeds the breed standards set by the AKC you should not be breeding.
If your dog came home like this after being bred I would say something went wrong while she was there that the breeder isn't tellin you.
