Showing our new puppy

We've just bought a beautiful black bitch 8 weeks old from a well known breeder in Australia. We are interested in showing her in the ring but don't know where to start, are there any books or places you can recommend for us to use as a guide? Any tips you can provide would be most appreciated! We will be based in South Australia, I noticed in your blog it says you judged a show here? What was the quality like compared to the UK?

When you get to S Australia get in touch with Val Tapp (Roseworthy, Adelaide 61885 248107) she can tell you all about training classes and the Great Dane Club of SA.  The South Australia Canine Association will also help.  Get to some shows and ask the exhibitors they will know what is available in the area..

A good book if you can get it now is 'Take Them Round Please' by Tom Horner.  It may be available over the internet.

Standard of show danes was varied just as it is in other countries.  Temperament was OK.
