Blister?

Question
Hello. i am not sure if you could answer my question, but even an attempt would be helpful.
Hello. I have a ten month old Border Collie female named Ferrah. Earlier today, my dad discovered a small blister-type thing on her lower stomach. However, it is not a teat, and looks like it is filled with blood because it is a brownish-gray. I am wondering if this is anything serious. Any information or websites would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello Kasey -

This could be a few things, I would take her to the veterinarian just to be sure. Have them run a few tests, full physical exam and even a biopsy if necessary. Without seeing this nodule, I cannot give you a 100% accurate answer but below are a few things it could be.

- Ulcerative dermatosis of Collies and Shetland Sheepdogs
This is a type of dermatosis that is ususlly found in middle age dogs but is possible to be found in your pup due to heredity and breeding. The best treatment for this is Vitamin E and Omega-3 essential fatty acids such as Fish Oil or Evening Primrose Oil.

- Various types of Contact Dermatitis
There are many varieties of dermatitis and most can be detected by ithcy, pale or reddened skin around small nodules in the skin. You didn't mention this so I am thinking it more of the above. If itching occurs you can apply Aloe Vera Gel to the lesions and it should soothe and comfort the area and deter itching.

- Skin Allergy
This is an endless list and most times you can never pin point what is the cause. You would have to have many tests run to try and figure out if it is food or environment related. A lot of time, money and unecessary conventional medications are issued and most of the time allergy is never cured.

I am sorry I cannot help you a little more. Again, I would take her to a vet just to be safe - feel free to contact me again after you get a diagnosis and I will be more then happy to help you treat your pet naturally. Even if the vet puts her on anti-biotics there are still natural supplements that will help her in addition to the anti-bitotics.
