Question
QUESTION:   Akitten was finding it's way into my garage and eating my cat food.  I had 2 male cats at the time, both fixed.  This kitten was extremely thin and had very thin fur.  I decided to keep the kitten.  As wild as she was she let me pick her up.  That may be because she was to weak to resist me.  She was really starved.   Anyway I took her to the vet and had her fixed and checked and got all her shots.  She has fattened up quite nicely, she's not over weight at this point but she has gorged her self to the point of throwing up her food many times.  That seems to be subsiding.  Her fur has filled in and she is very soft and very beutiful.  She is still reluctant to interact with my other 2 male cats.  What is concerning me the most is that she makes lots of sinus snorting sounds.  She still has 1 eye that seems to run.  However she is not sneezing.  She just seems to make a lot of snorting or sinusy sounds.  Is this something I should go back to the VEt for or is this something I shoud try to treat myself.  I really am not financially set to spend a lot of money on her so any help in treating this myself is appreciated.  I kind of spent the money I could on getting her fixed and immunixed.  If I understand what is wrong I will spend what I have to to help her.  I love her and all my animals so much.

ANSWER: This is called an upper respiratory infection and most likely you can treat her at home with some colloidal silver. The best way is to replace her water source with it, especially the first week. Otherwise you will have to give her some by mouth twice a day in a syringe.  This does take awhile to clear up. I have a feral kitten right now with the same problem. Get as much into her as possible.

You can get colloidal silver at most health food stores. Get one that is about 10-20ppm.

QUESTION: I'm not familiar with colloidal silver.  How much should I give her?  Thank you!

Answer
You can't overdose on it so I just use it instead of water so they will get as much as they can drink. Most dogs and cats, when given a choice, will drink the CS before plain water. Give it to her straight for about a week then go down to half CS and half water.

Depending on what the source of the infection it could take a week or up to 6 weeks to go away. However, if it's not working and gets worse please head for a vet.

If she was like that when you found her the vet shouldn't have given her shots till she was well. It can make it harder to help her since some vaccines can actually make her more vulnerable to getting sick.
