Question

Blanca
Hello Marie,

My 2 1/2 year old female Boxer has recently torn her ACL, partially.  The doctor has her on Rimadyl for 2 weeks then he'll do a re-check on her.  She's still babying it a little, but no so bad; we've been keeping her inside and haven't taken her for her daily walks...which is killing all 3 of us!!  I was wondering if her ACL is not completely torn, is it possible for a complete recovery with supplements instead of surgery?  Her vet said that surgery is not necessary unless it's a complete tear, but I don't want her activities to be restricted...she loves to play and run and we LOVE to watch her play and run!!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you in advance!

Answer
Hi ladies... Sorry so late, I was ill and unable to answer your quesiton.
YES - I agree with your vet.  NO rush into a surgery!  Boy - you have a good vet.
Many dogs have surgery that they Don't need ****
Also, sometimes after the surgery the ACL is still a mess for years to come.

Please read my post here:
supplements and rest are the Key.
