Pain releif for chihuahua with fractured pelvis

Hi, my Chihuahua was hit by a car a few days ago after escaping from the garden (another chihuahua is in heat not too far from us). Anyway this has resulted in a fractured pelvis, he was released from the vet yesterday and sent home for cage rest with Meloxidyl, Clavaseptin and Pro-kolin.Although only the Meloxidyl is for pain relief I have been told he is only to have it once every 24hrs and this does not seem to be doing much good and wondered if there was any alternatives I could try or discuss with my vet as she thinks I should just persevere, which is easy for her to say its not her dog and he is obviously in alot of pain. I would very much appreciate any help or advice you could offer.

Poor little chi!  Ask the vet if you can try Turmeric pills.
