Question
Hello Nurse Marie, my dog patches is a dalmation she's 10 years old so i guess she's 70 in doggy years and for the past years she's had a skin problem where around her back area around her tail at first used to be this red almost burgandy color on her back like if it were blood but it wasn't so i took her to the doctor and they took a skin test and told me it was some sort of fungus or yeast growing on her back they told me to switch the food she eats to lamb and rice meal and wash her with a shampoo called malaseb and at first i didn't know how to apply it and doc didn't tell me how or when to apply it so i washed her regularly like every 3-4 weeks so i stopped using it because i thought it didn't work so most of her hair fell off as if she were bald and shinny around the area like a circle and just around the area is red/burgandy and just recently someone else told me about it but they told me that i had to do it twic a week until it gets better so this is my 8th wash of using it and some hairs started growing like if she were growing little grass on her back the color seems less dark and sort of but not really fading, i haven't changed her diet she eats regular dog food like alpo and kibbles and bits stuff like that dry food deffinetely and i don't know how much longer am i going to have to keep washing her until her skin gets better i am really frustrated on giving her a bath every 3rd day, maybe i should switch to a different shampoo with higher volumes of anti fungus or something but i just don't know please help. Thank you. p.s a friend of mine told me about this product called blue star and she said that it could help with fungus but i don't know if that product can be used on animals or not so i haven't tried it. thank you.

NuVET heals the skin
Malaseb for allergies; NuVET for allergies; Dalmations;
Laura, I am so glad you contacted me!  Yes, I can help you and your Dalmation girl.
Here is what I want you to do:
Easy and very soothing and healing.

1.  Please go to the HUMAN vitamin section at Walmart and get some Acidophalus 1 Billion CFUs..
JUST give 1 per day for 3 months.  This will help to fight off the yeast and fungus.
Plus it is good for her skin, coat and stomach ( digestive).
VERY low cost and VERY safe...

2.  Continue with the Malaseb as this is a good product.  It can't hurt her.

3.  Please call the NuVET folks now and order the NuVET skin and Coat wafer: NuVET Plus - this is a skin and coat healer and Immue System booster - this will help her to fight off the YEAST and fungus bacteria that are hitting her.  NuVET is an allergy blaster and Dalmations are very prone to Food and Environmental Allergies.
