Question
QUESTION: what could possibly be the reason as to why when my 10 wk old Dachshund puppy has blood at the end of his stool?? It's not really speckled throughout but its at the very end.. Please help Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Sara,  Well, he could have a little virus in his belly.  Also, it could be the food you are feeding.  What brand are you feeding.

QUESTION: He's getting Purina dry puppy chow and in the morning and evening i am mixing the dry with a little wet food which is Pedigree puppy.. Then i am leaving some dry out throughout the day to get him more used to eating just dry dog food.. The food he's getting has been the same food that he's been fed since he first started eating dry, I've never changed it..

Answer
Hi again,  Yes, the problem may be the anal glads because of Poor quality food brands.
The Pedigree and Purina can lead to anal glad infections because of all the Junk fillers.
Here is some help for you:

1...PLEASE slowly change over the food to a better quality:
Pick from :  Innova PUPPY ; Wellness PUPPY; Merrick Puppy or even the Halo puppy food.
Mix the OLD food and the new food x 2 weeks.  AFTER that you can go 100% with the new food.
Give dry food and some Wet canned food each day.

2.  Please get this baby onto the NuVET power/ Holistic vitamin - will help to reduce swelling in the anal area and heals.  Will also keep you baby healthy with all the great vitamins and herbs.
Holistic and NOT in stores:
YOU can order here:    1-800-474-7044  ( tell them PET Nurse Marie sent you.)
Ask for the NuVET PLUS Powder. ( give just 1/2 teaspoon per day)
AFTER about 5 months of age give 1 full teaspoon per day - * mix into wet food and a dash of water.

3.  Give some PURE canned PUMPKIN ( no added sugar) - 1/2 teaspoon per day - will add Quality fiber and help the anal glad stay Clear of infection.

Keep me posted.... Sounds like an easy fix ...  Talk to you Vet if you have any  more problems.
