Diebetic dog

hi, I have 7 1/2 yr. old female border collie/mix she was diagnosed with diebetes aprox. 1 yr. ago. She has been doing very well in general. In June we moved out of a multi dog household and have changed our rutine I believe for the better.  2 insulyn shots/day, Science Diet w/d, Herbs for candida, acidophilus for pets, olive leaf & black radish& parsley all perscibed by my new vet, and a daily beach walk.  In the last few weeks she does this funny yawn/ shiver, where her mouth quivers. At first I thought it was a result of overdoseing her, but now I am not so sure and my new holistic vet, just scrathes her head and gives me no answers, I don't think she has a lot of experiance w/ diebetes and this concerns me though I like that she is holistic. Do you know what the Yawn/ shiver with her jaw could be. And do you have any suggestions as to remedies specifically geared twords diebetes, eye sight, & alternatives to science diet.? Hi Terra-  Sounds like you and Jessy have a very good holistic VET.

Also, looks like you are doing a good job with the supplements.
The thing that surprises me is the Science Diet brand you are feeding.  I am amazed that a Holistic vet would want you to feed this brand.  There are so many better foods on the market besides the one you are feeding.

Here is what I would do for your gal:

Continue with the supplements you are currently taking.  I would add a few things to the supplement list.

1.
NuVET Plus - This is an immune system booster and overall Wonderful Supplement for her skin, coat , joints and hips.

From Natures Sunshine - I would like to see you put her on some Silver Shield liquid - this is an Natural Antibiotic for her and her Humans, too.
You would mix this into her food 2 x per day.  It may help the shiver and Yawn episodes.  I am wondering if they may be neurological from damage - kind of like neuropathy.  The silver is good for her overall health and may help with this little ODD problem.

And Last - See if you can start her on some Innova Evo grain free dog food - mix this with her Science Diet for 2 months.
Then, after the 60 days give her 3/4 of the Innova Evo and just 1/4 of the science diet.  The Science diet is loaded with Junk grains.
Not a good food at all, just average.
I know you want better for your gal.  If you can't find Innova EVO then Wellness Formula CORE is equal to the Innova EVO brands.
