eye discharge/ No VET needed for terramycin/ Pet Nurse Marie

My datchund/jack Russell mix recently woke up with eye discharge. She does not seem to notice or care about it but I was worried that it might get worse. It has been one day since this began and it does not seem to be getting worse. Is there something over the counter I can try before taking her to the vet. There is not redness or swelling. Is there some type of alternative to Gentamicin sulfate ophthalmic solution (something that does not need a prescription)?
