Question
i have an outside stray momma cat who has recently given birth (about 2 weeks) i noticed she has a wound on her backside, possibly a tear from birth, i have been treating her with peroxide and neosporin and she appears to be fine, though the wound looks a bit infected,  a vet once told me that if i gave her antibiotics the kittens would die from nursing, is this true?  I want to do the best thing for her, i dont want to kill the kittens if i dont have to.  Please advise

Answer
Donna, I would wait on the antibiotics!  Yes, the vet is correct that antibiotic therapy can cause problems with the kittens growth.
I would add some vitamin C to Mom's cat food - you can buy it and break into 3-4 pieces and hide in some tuna fish .... or a very tasty wet food.
Vitamin C Dosage below:

Also, NuVET Feline Formula Skin and Coat supplement is an Immune System booter and skin healer/ VERY safe to give to a nursing mom and safe for the kittens, too.
I would give Mom 1/2 teaspoon in the am ( mixed into some tuna) and 1/2 teaspoon of NuVET in the Pm...
This is safe, natural and Holistic-
Tell them Marie told you to call
Call 1-800-474-7044 and ask for the 90 count of NuVET Feline - it is 55.00 for the 90 count /  the 30 count is only 20.00 but I don't believe a 30 count will be enough for her...SHE needs NuVET for an extended period of time.
You can get 15 % off : ask them about auto ship.

You can look at NuVET Feline Formual here:
