Dog with Pemphigus (Autoimmune Skin Disease)

Question
My dog (a 13 year old toy fox terrier) has recently developed what was diagnosed as pemphigus.  His fur began to fall out in patches after developing blisters, then sores, then crusting, and finally skin peeling and fur falling out.  I am wondering about Wobenzym for this--do you happen to know of any natural remedies that would help him.  He is still a very spry and healthy little dog, but this skin ailment is a trial for him--these sores hurt and he has bald patches all over.  He is a very pretty little boy and I know it hurts him more than physically to look all crusty and bald!

Answer
Hi Lauren,
Firstly, sorry for this late reply, but my internet was down for the last few days.  Autoimmune diseases are caused by the body not recognizing itself, and treating its own cells as the enemy - thus attacking itself.  To remedy autoimmune diseases you really need to get the immune system in tip-top condition.  There are super antioxidants such as Maritime Pine Bark extract which can easily be added to a dog's daily meals.  Also, adding half a teaspoon of Colloidal Silver to his meals will help to boost the immune function.  Products such as Flaxseed (linseed) oil - 1 teaspoon, added to meals will help to keep his coat and skin in great condition.  Making up some RoseHip tea everyday and adding it to his drinking water will also boost his immune system, and kidney and adrenal functions.

I think that the problem with most pharmaceutical treatments for autoimmune conditions is that they don't actually do anything to boost the immunity, and don't offer long standing results.  But, you may find that an initial course of a drug may give him a bit of a boost, while you get his nutrition in order.
I would be giving him lots of fresh fruits and veggies, with raw (or cooked) meats.  I would avoid all processed dog foods.  You can purchase Wheatgrass creams and these work really well on skin conditons.  Make sure that the product is all natural.  A combination mix of Australian Bush Flower Essences of Spinifex, Mulla Mulla, Dagger Hakea and Bluebell may bring some relief as well.  This comes in the form of drops that you simply drop into his mouth twice per day for at least a two week period.  You can purchase these online, or from health food stores.
We also have available for sale a Blood Cleansing herbal mix and a Skin Allergy herbal mix that works together to cleanse the blood and the system of toxins, and bring health to the skin.  Please let me know if you want any further information about these products.
Please keep in touch if there is anything else I can assist with.  I truely hope that your little man gets better soon.
Take care,
Silva.
