Question
My cocker spaniel is throwing up and not interested in eating a lot of the time. I put her on an antibiodic and she gets better for a short period of time. She is losing weight. No stool problems. What can I feed her that might make a difference?

Answer
Hi Elizabeth,
I think you need to get her to a vet for a proper diagnosis.  If you are not satisfied with the vet you go to, then find another one.  Throwing up can be caused by so many different conditions - from extremely serious, to a mild stomach upset.  So it is best to get her checked out satisfactorily.  She is losing weight because her body is not absorbing any nutrients.  You can try her on foods like sardines, cottage cheese and yogurt.  You may also want to look at adding some natural nutritional boosters that you can buy from most on-line alternative pet product companies. Slippery Elm powder is very soothing to the gut, so you may want to add some of this to her daily meals.
But I really think your first step needs to be a proper diagnosis.  Once you have this you can then plan how best to treat this and what foods would be appropriate.  I am also not sure of the connection with the antibiotics and her condition.  You may want a second opinion.
I hope this was helpful.
Kind regards,
Silva.
