Answer
Hello Pat -

It sounds as though she may have a stomach virus, without more information about your pet, that is the best diagnosis I can give you.

You can add Garlic powder to her food. Garlic is an anti-microbial and will help fight and kill bacteria and infection that is present in the system. Don't be afraid to sprinkle it with a heavy hand, dogs love Garlic and she sound eat it right up. This may also help her eat if she is showing signs that she wants to. The only draw back to adding Garlic to the food is flatulence. It may be a little stinky bu the Garlic is doing its job by pushing the bacteria through the system. Just keep a couple clothes pins handy! This safe and effective treatment for daily long term use and will benefit overall health. Garlic also works as a great flea preventive. You can give this to your pet with anti-biotics if they are prescribed.

Another good supplement to add to the diet is Probiotics such as Acidophilis. Probiotics are the live cultures found in yogurt. These cultures are good bacteria found in the intestines and gut. When bacteria and infection are present, the good bacteria levels drop and leave the body more susceptable for further bacterial damage. This is also true when a body is taking anti-biotics. When anti-biotics are ingested they kill all bacteria in the system and can create further damage and a weakened immune system. By supplementing with Probiotics, you help to increase and maintain good bacteria levels in the gut which allow for faster healing times, better digestion, good overall health, higher immune levels and greater resistance to bacteria, disease and infection. You can give your pet a plain yogurt a day or give the capsule form. Most pet stores sell it, if not, you can give the "human" form, both work the same way. This is also safe and effective for daily long term use and highly recommended when taking any anti-bitoics for human or animal ailments.

I am sorry I cannot give you more information as what to expect when you visit your vet. Be sure they run a blood test to be sure that all blood levels are well. Feel free to contact me again after you visit with your vet. If the condition is more serious, I may be able to help you heal your pet naturally.
