Question
QUESTION: Good Morning.....we have a rescued Cocker Spaniel who is approx 8 1/2 yrs old.  Back in Sept she had a seizure.  The first that we are aware of as we can't be w/her 24/7.  Our Vet prescribed Pheno (1 pill in the AM and 1 pill in the PM)....since then she has had a total of 7 seizures w/the most recent being at 1:51 this past Monday morning.  As of yesterday, she is now taking 1 pheno pill in the Am and 1 1/2 in the PM.  Just recently however, we took her to a homeopath doctor who prescribed Dandelion (Mon, Wed and Fri); B-complex 50 mg; and Small Intestine Detox after dinner.  I started just the S.I.D. Wednesday night.  Thursday I came home from work and she had puked and pooped w/in the house.  I gave her another pill that night.  Friday I came home from work and she had pooped w/in the house again - the poop was very mucus-e.  I gave her another pill that night.  Saturday I gave her 1/2 a pill and Sunday she appeared to be straining to poop.  Monday at 1:51 am she had a seizure and upon coming out of the seizure - went out NUMEROUS times and was straining to poop.  Yesterday, Monday, I came home from work and she had pooped twice w/in the house.  The one poop again was very mucus-e and the other had drops of blood w/in the stool followed by droplets of blood across the floor.  I left her outside and followed her around - as she strained to poop; droplets of blood came out.  I immediately called our vet and they have since put her on an antibiotic and I've stopped the S.I.D. pills.  My second question is - is this something that was caused by the S.I.D. pill cleansing out her system?  Do you think it was cleansing her too much??  And my last question is - what herbal meds would you recommend to help w/the controlling of the seizures?  THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

ANSWER: Hi Marcy - It was so nice of your to rescue this Cocker Spaniel adult dog!  YOU are a saint...I mean it....
Ok, Glad you are using a holistic vet.
You will need to continue with the phenobarbital because there is not much else on the market for grand mal seizures.
As for the other homeopathic products??? NOT sure what is going on here...It just may have been too much Cleansing for her system.

I always refer all my seizure clients to the NuVET plus products...
It is an immune system booster/ all natural and great for all the Body systems.

She will need just 1 NuVET wafer per day:

JUST IN ***** Another NuVET testimonial.....

My two adult female Schnauzers which I adopted two months ago, one of which is so allergic to everything she had open stomach sores from scratching for the last two months, have been on Nuvet+ for less than a WEEK and the change is miraculous.

Hundreds of Allergic Bumps almost totally gone, sores almost completely scabbed over, and scratching is almost completely abated except for the occasional "habit" of doing so.  While I was waiting for the Nuvet+, I was treating this allergic bump breakout condition with apple cider vinegar (it was the ONLY thing that helped), but it kept the itching at bay.

I was praying there was an answer out there somewhere and it appears, thank GOD, that I found it.  I am on your re-order plan, 90 count every 60 days.
         Gratefully,
         P.B.

ANY more TESTIMONIALS?????

Anyway, I hope the NuVET helps.....
Also, be careful about OVER cleansing....It may have caused too much stress on her intestines....JUST as it would with humans.

QUESTION: Thank you so much for the timely response!!
Can you tell me, as I've been trying to research on the net about this and am not having any luck, what does Dandelion do for a dogs system?  I have not given Paige any of the Dandelion - just the Small Intestine Detox (which I've now stopped) and last night I did give her a B-50 complex vitamin.  I read on this site that the B-50 is to support the nerve function as well as the liver.  But am curious as to what the Dandelion will do for her.

Answer
Hi - Well, I know they use Dandelion in detox and also to reduce fluids in the body and around the heart?  Next time you see the vet ask why he/she did order the Dandelion product????
Sorry, I am not sure what this will do for seizure activity.
