Question
I have a 11 week old bulldog.  His eating habits are good and urinary habbits appear to be normal.  However, he has thick green mucus comming out of his penis. Is this a serious problem?  Or should I give it a day or two?

Answer
Hello Janel-

Please schedule and appointment with your veterinarian immediately!  This is imperative. Your puppy may have a neonatal disease which will require specialized treatment. Your pup may have Canine Herpesvirus or Canine Parvovirus-1. I can not be certain but your veterinarian will be able to run tests to give you a definite answer.

It could be a bacterial or fungal infection of the kidneys but at this age you should not take any chances. If this is the case it will require antibiotics to get it out of the system. Be sure to take a sample of the excretion with you when you go.

Without knowing detailed information on your puppies health, breeding genetics and vaccinations to date, I cannot help you more. I am sorry.

Please schedule a visit for peace of mind, this is an important time in your puppies life.

Thank you and best wishes to you and your pet. Please keep me posted on his condition I am very concerned. If you would like, let me know what the veterinarian has fully diagnosed and I can help you with natural supplements and remedies. Please contact me at  wintersaurora@yahoo.com.
