Question
QUESTION: Hi there.. I have a cat that was diagnosed with eosinophilic plague. he periodically(about every three to six months) gets raised, linear lesions on the backs of one or both legs. He licks them alot and gets very jumpy. It has responded to cortisone injections but, obviously I would like to find another, more holistic treatment.  The other issue I have is my other cat was diagnosed with sturvite crystals in her urine and was so uncomfortable i caved to the recommendation to put her, and consequently my other cat, on Royal Canin(yuck). Is there some kind of holistic/raw diet that could work for them both? Maybe with the addition of some herbal/holistic remedies?? I thank you for your help!!

Also, as for the Eosinophilic plaque, you will need to stay on the steroids until the Supplements kick in.  Work with your vet in slowly lowering the dosages in time.

So, you can home cook for the two of them.  This diet is fine for them to share-  also, some NuVET Plus Feline Formual will need to be added as the Multi-vit mineral tablet.... ( this is a powder for cats)

EXCELLENT and you only need to give 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per day -  Start each cat out with 1/2 teaspoon mixed into the wet food...

NuVET will cost you about .35 Cents per day - per cat.

Go to http://www.nuvet.com/81098

YOU are looking for the feline powder in a 30 day or 60 day supply.
If you go on auto ship they will give you 15 % Off.

Call 1-800-474-7044 and tell them PET Nurse Marie sent you...
Use order code 81098 so we can track all my clients.

BEST wishes - I bet the NuVET will help the Eosinophilic problem - but give it some time to kick in as this is a Natural Product.
Also, don't go off the steroid too quick - must be a slow process to avoid shock to your cat's system.

BEST wishes and KEEP in touch.

QUESTION: Luckily he has the milder form of the condition.. Since he has a current flare up should I get him another shot or use it as a gauge to see if the diet is working(ie if the flare up goes down.. its working.. etc)??  thank you for your help!!
Anah

Answer
Well, as you have seen the relief from the shot is very short lived. They don't work very well at all.  I would skip it but that is your decision to make...
I am sure it won't hurt him to pay for another shot... But, it may not help too much.
I would concentrate on the food and supplements

Take care,
Marie
