Question
I have a Maltese who has eye stain along with light pink feet and beard.  He is on Atopica (25mg) every three days, Natural Balance Potato and Duck Kibble (with a very small amount of Weruva Mackerel), Tropiclean to help with tarter on teeth.  I have been told that Tylan will help get rid of his stains.  He weighs a little under 10 lbs.  Would this hurt him and if not, how much should I give him and for how long?  Thank you so much in advance.

Answer
Hi Donna,  I don't like to give Tylan as it is an antibiotic ...
Looks like your food is a good choice:

OH, TEAR STAINs...... TIPS
My Bulldog's Tear stains have been deminished by using PEARLS and NuVET Plus . PLUS, good quality cleaning: My OPINION :
The easiest remedy for tear stains is with Witch Hazel . Simply make it a part of your Bullie's daily cleaning routine. Use a flat 100% cotton pad and apply a small amount to the stained area. You can use a dash of the Witch Hazel and a dash of bottled water on the cotton Flat pad ( one pad for each eye) ---

You may wish to follow up with a bit of Corn Starch on a Q-tip - I love the Johnson & Johnson's Baby Corn starch powder. This will keep the area dry. After doing this daily for a short period of time, the tear stains will be gone. Even when the stains are no longer visible it is still a good idea to continue using the witch hazel at least a couple of times per week to prevent them from returning.
And they all get a NuVET Wafer supplement per day and short term probioitics... ( LET me Know if you need help) Ask Marie Peppers- http://www.apluspetcare.com/untitled4.html
