Home Remedy?

QUESTION: I think my little 9 year old chihuahua can't urinate.Is there anything I can give him that would help him to pee?Is there a home remedy I can give him?Something that won't cause bad side effects and that will be OK to give him while he is taking his seizure medicine.I want it to be totally safe for him but help him to use the bathroom.Also, is there anything I can give him that would fight against infection? His Dr advised me to give  him antibiotics the first 5 days of every month.Is there a safe home remedy that can do the same?

ANSWER: Hi Krystal - If your baby can't urinate you need to see the vet.
I see you mentioned he is on seizure meds.... YOU may want to talk to the vet about this.  Does he run a chronic monthly urinary tract infection?

QUESTION: The Vet says he needs the antibiotics every first 5 days of the month due to his dental problems.He had a bad dental disease which cause him to lose all but 5 teeth, a few of those are now decaying.She says the medicine would help with his infection in that area.I am concerned he has a urinary tract infection or bladder infection(maybe they are the same)because he has this milky looking stuff coming from his penis.I've not thought much of it since I've seen a lot of male dogs like that.He has this swishing sound in he belly area when he hurts like this.I've talked to his Dr and she says its nothing to worry about.But when he hurts, it something to worry about to me.This sound in his belly and his pain happens at the same time.It sounds like as if someone has put water in a balloon and starts squeezing the water from side to side, if you know what I mean.I will pay closer attention to see if he can actually pee for sure.When he hurts like this, he don't want to eat,drink,move around, and he don't use the bathroom at all until his pain leaves.Then he acts normal.Everything is normal.

ANSWER: Hi - I wonder why the vet has not pulled the teeth out.  If he only had 5 and they are bad, he doesn't need them.  The bad teeth can cause many problems including heart disease.  
As far as his belly????  I have no idea.
YOU can give him some Pure canned pumpkin each day - a few teaspoons - good fiber and calories ( get the NO added sugar kind)..

The secretions at the penis may be normal...... Your vet can swab the area and take a culture for growth.  

I wish that I could help you more.  Sounds like your little one needs to get the teeth removed and he may get better.  The teeth are wearing down  his immune system.

QUESTION: A reply to your last answer.I forgot to mention,The 5 teeth he has left are actually left from his dental surgery.I had to take him in to have his teeth removed a few years ago.The Vet was able to leave his 4 K-9 teeth, and the other one grew in after his surgery.She wanted to leave the K-9 teeth to hold his tongue in his mouth.The pumpkins are totally safe to give him?Does thhe brand matter?I hear that Apple Cider Vinegar is good to give him for many things(digestion,gas,constipation,bladder stones, and urinary tract infections)is this true?Is it also safe to give him Cranberry Juice Coctail?I'm so sorry for so many question but I want to make sure I'm doing whats safe and best for my baby.

Oh, I understand about the teeth.  As for the urinary - yes, cranberry tablets are great - you can get them at the health food store...hide in the cheese.........
