Question
Daughter's male pit bull has a rash, lack of appetite and energy.  Puppy - about 3 months old.  Could it be an allergy?  Can she treat with child's Benedryl?

Answer
Hello Sharon -

Yes it is possible that this is an allergy. I would take the puppy to a vet to be sure.

Their are many types of allergies that pets can get from food allergies to air borne allergies, even seasonal like humans. The puppy could also have a skin allergy or mites, without seeing the puppy I cannot make an accurate diagnosis.

Child's Benadryl would be fine for now until she can get the pup to the vet. Follow instructions on the bottle for an infant, do not overdose. Keep me posted and let me know the outcome and I may be able to help you with natural remedies.

I hope this information has helped you and your pet.
