Hi, I have a pure bred Staffordshire Terrior(4 years old), Titan, and A mix breed female, Artemis (2 years old), we rescued her from a shelter. Recently they have become excessively itchy, especially Titan who seems to be sensitive skinned anyways, maybe its because he is a rednose. He has two red patches of scaly skin inbetween his hind legs that the vets have told us is nothing to be concerned with, until recently they have been fine, now they are becoming more irritated looking.
Last spring Artemis lost two round circular patches of hair above her pelvis (hip bones) and the vet yet again said it was nothing to worry about (or that it could have been a thyroid problem but her appetite and energy level hadn't changed) That cleared up, no problem, all on its own.
I have read some of your responses and I am interested in changing their diet from Purina Pro Plan to Innova EVO red meat large bite. Titan also has arthritis and we are currently giving him glucosamine chondroitin on a daily basis aswell. He is only 4. I would like to find a dog food that would already have that supplement in there so we wouldn't have to do both or not as much. I am also interested in hearing more about the NuVet Plus wafers. What can you reccommend to relieve the itchyness.

One other thing I noticed you had made a comment about dogs with excessive gas. Any suggestions for that too?

Hi Stephanie and family!  I have some help for your Titan and Artemis.  Glad you did see the vet for the skin problems.  Many times the vets have "No clue" to proper feeding and supplement usage.

Yes - Let's change them to the Innova EVO large bites.  Slowly work them off the Pro Plan food and go to the GRAIN free EVO.... Do a 50:50 mix of the old and new foods for 3 weeks.  AFTER the 3 weeks you can go to 100% EVO feeding.

I would love to see both your kids on some Acidophalus 1 billion CFUs - give 1 per day per dog for 45 days.  This is a probiotic that will help to reduce the excessive yeast bacteria on the skin and in the gut )  YEAST = a Gas problem - smelly ...
You can find Acdiophalus at any vitamin store for humans.
HIDE it is a pill pocket or some beef hot dog bites.

NEXT- YES - I would love to see you go with the NuVET plus for each of your doggie kids.

Also, you may want to drop the other glucosamine product and Put your boy on the NuJOINT plus - give 3 per day long term....Wonderful to help reduce the arthritis and reduce the pain.
