Question
My 16 year old cat's recent blood test indicates higher than normal bilirubin and ALT.  Clearly, something is wrong with or affecting the liver.  Other than some arthritis issues she is herself.  I have her on milk thistle and homemade food to help the liver.  Any other suggestions?

Answer

nuvet powder for cats
Hi Pat - Looks like you are doing a great job by cooking :
here area few suggestions to add:

Frequent feedings of high quality simple carbohydrates such as white rice and potatos.
( if he will eat them????)
~~~normal amounts of protein should be fed as protein is needed by the liver during repair.
Soy protein and milk proteins are helpful..
Hamburger, Drained  ( or another meat is fine)
 ******* ~No liver or organ meats...******
Boiled eggs without the yokes..
Unprocessed BROWN Rice..  or White rice...
mixed daily with some cottage cheese or "soy" plain yogurt.
YOU don't have to use soy but it is good ...
SUPPLEMENT:
Also, 1/2 a treaspoon of NuVET feline Powder just 1 x per day....
Milk thistle is a must: Glad you are doing this already.
