Westie vomiting bile constantly

Hello!
My 12 yr old Westie has been vomiting multiple times per day for a month.  We've (gladly) spent over $6000 teying to have her diagnosed. After multiple scan, barium, ultra sounds, bag fluids and no food for 7 days- they've arrived at the conclusion it's acid reflux. She vomits bright yellow bile about 3 hours after she's eaten each meal. Her 3 meals daily consist of 2tbs. Hills I/D food. Her vet has her on 4 different acid reducing medications (prilosrc, tagamet, etc...) It finally dawned on me that ok, that's great for the symptoms, but what's causing this?? my mother, sister and fiance all have acid reflux and have been told to nix the fats.  What about in dogs?  is there a homemade food I can make for her that would help with acid reflux? I'm assuming low fat/higher protien?  Thank you so much for your help!

Yes, Laura, I would be glad to help you and your Westie.  Continue with the Tagament each day as needed.  Most dogs like yours need a small snack at bedtime with a Tagament pill.
I am sure you vet has you on this before bedtime...

OK - here is what you can cook.. The Hill's ID is awful stuff and yes, there are alternatives to the Hills RX diets.

I would like you to cook the following option at 3-4 very small meals per day:

To start : very easy ** feed this the first 3-4 days - then Graduate to others:

You can make a low-fat chicken dog food by mixing:

*three boiled and chopped, skinless chicken breasts, 1 cup cooked carrots, 1 cup cooked white rice and 1 cup low-fat cottage cheese.
Feed this 3-4 small meals per day.
You should refrigerate any leftovers.
YOU will need to add 1/2 a Teaspoon of NuVET Plus to the food 2 x per day ( for a total of 1 teaspoon of NuVET vitamin powder per day)  *A must for home cooking***

Chicken Dinner

1/2 cup cooked rice or pasta
1/2 cup non-fat cottage cheese
1/2 skinless chicken breast meat, poached and shredded
1/4 cup steamed vegetables, cubed- grated
Mix rice and cottage cheese in a medium sized dog dish. Add chicken and veggies. Sprinkle with crushed dog vitamins. ( NuVET dog powder ) SEE below:

Hamburger Dinner

1/2 cup cooked rice or pasta
1/2 cup non-fat cottage cheese
1/2 lean hamburger meat, fat drained and crumbled
1/4 cup steamed vegetables, cubed
Mix rice and cottage cheese in a medium sized dog dish. Add hamburger and veggies. Sprinkle with crushed dog vitamins. ( NuVET powder)

Veggie Dinner

1/2 cup cooked rice or pasta

1/2 cup steamed vegetables, cubed- grated  ( green beans / squash? Yams.....)  Anything but Onions is fine...***
Mix rice and cottage cheese in a medium sized dog dish. Add veggies. Sprinkle with crushed dog vitamins.  ( NuVET vitamins - see below)
