dandelions consumption

Question
my dog eats the flower part of about 8 dandelions a day.  Is it harmful?

Answer
Hello Kathleen -

I would only be concerned if your lawn or yard where the dandelions are loctaed is being treated treated with chemicals or heavy fertilizers. These toxins can be dangerous to your pet, not the dandelions.

Dandelions, especially the root, is the herb of choice for liver concerns and conditions. It is prominent in most detoxification formulas and diuretic blends. Dandelion helps to cleanse the liver and kidneys of toxins and well as helping to tone and strengthen it.

Your pet is very smart to consume this wonderful herb and veggie. Your pet is detoxifying his system daily and it will not harm him in anyway.

Again, if the yard area is treated with chemicals, I would recommend that you deter your pet from eating these flowers due to the harmful chemicals contained in pesticides and fertilizers.

I hope this information has helped you and your pet.
