disease.  The vet was very vague and said she had a yr at most.  no more info
was given and she had absolutely no information about diet or other alternative
means to keep her alive.  I will do anything for her and would very much like
some advice on any kind of alternative therapies and diets available.  Thank you!

ANSWER: Hello Lisa, Yes, I would love to help you two..
What have you been feeding Krissie ?
Did the vet order anything at all for your gal?

QUESTION: Marie
I cant begin  to tell you how great it is to hear back from you.  We have been
feeding her a natural dog food called wellness.  Her tests cam back as
follows:  creatinine:  2.4, BUN 32.  The vet suggested that she go on a blood
pressure med( enalapril maleate 10 mg) and a special food called canine
prescription diet k/d.  i was wondering about other kinds of foods, raw foods,
ANYTHING!  ANY idea how long i can expect to still have her?

Thanks so very much,

Lisa

only grain free for renal canines
only grain free for re
ANSWER: Hi Lisa - Well, the Wellness is a good food but for renal failure you need a special food from your vet or home-cooking can be helpful.
The Hill's k/d is an "awful" smell but it does seem to help dogs with renal problems..
If you want to make some home cooked - you can work with Grain Free SoJo mix and adding your own Cooked meats / No raw for this kid.

As far as the heart drug: sounds good.... not too many choices on this one...
Also, I would love to see your gal get 1 NuVET wafer supplement per day ; natural and holistic doggie vitamin.
NuVet will be fine with anything your vet orders.

Slowly work off the Wellness and onto the Hill's stuff from the Vet or the SoJo GRAIN free home cooking - ( with YOUR added white cooked meats )  - SoJo is sold in pet stores all over the world or here:
free shipping with this link:
http://www.sojos.com/index.aspx?affiliate=petnurse

If you want, I can provide you with some FULL home-cooking recipes for your gal.

As far as How long she will be here on Earth?  They can live 2-4 years with Renal failure or just 1 year.  So hard to say!
I will keep my fingers crossed for you all.
LOTS of love and good food , meds and supplements will help.

Call the NuVET folks :  1-800-474-7044  Just give 1 NuVET wafer per day....  Tell them pet Nurse Marie has referred you and give referral code 81098

QUESTION: yes, i would like the home cooked recipe.  would you recommend the home
cooked over the grain free?  what about he protein that you mention?  aren't
they supposed to be on low protein? please advise.

thank u!

Answer
Hi - The SoJo grain free ( green bag ) see post above for link - this can and will be low protein if you use white meats - Also, you would feed 3 small meals per day of the SoJo -
The Butcher can grind up any white meats for you...
lamb and pork -  Mostly do lamb with some chicken.
Red meats should not be offered unless you want to do some ground buffalo ( dogs love buffalo and it is low in fat)
Low protein = mainly white meats...

The grain free is the best way to go...
( you can do the Vet's food if you want, it won't hurt but it can make dogs and cats Fat... plump)
BECAUSE of all the junk fillers in the Hill's products.

Sojo is the easy way to home-cooking with help;  it is a mix and you add the cooked meats.
Your dog doesn't eat a bunch of the SoJo because it is condensed and you feed less.

I hope this helps..

If you want to do All home-cooking - I do have some recipes, but it requires some work.
