Pain and liver problems with my mini dashoud

Question
I took my pet to a vet yesterday and learned that his liver is twice the size it should be and his heart is also enlarged. He has a sore disc in his lower back and is in pain.  The meds they gave him has made him so sick and diareah all night.  I stopped giving them to him.  He is eight years old and has been in good health until this.  Please advice me on what you would give him for his liver, heart and pain.

Hi Faye - the vet can give you something else for the pain.  I can also help with some supplements.  As far as the heart, the vet may want to give you a heart drug or a water pill -  Don't know if the enlarged heart is " fluid " around the heart.  
You may want to call the vet and talk about this.

I can help with some of the problem-

***here are my suggestions:

First off - the liver filters all the medications that your vet gives you.  If the liver is enlarged, it can't filter the drugs and can become toxic to the blood.  It is very hard to heal a dog with an enlarged liver.

We need to reduce his pain and strengthen his system and organs...
The liver can be enlarged because of a Weak Immune system.  Hard to tell without an ultrasound and blood work what is going on.
