Question
My question is..
I have a 2yr. Yorkiepoo that will not eat her kibble any more.
I have tried a few different types and even tried the honest kitchen raw. That made her throw up every day.
She loves rice and burger and sweet potato.. So I diced I would like to home cook for her.
My problem is not knowing what supplements she would need and how much. She weighs just under 5 pounds.
Plus when you home cook does it change on the amount of supplements they get according to what is in the recipes?

Thank you so much I need all the help I can get!

Answer
Hi Diana and Molly -  We have many that home-cook for the pets.  Sure - here are some things to add to your recipe to make it Balanced for your girl.

For meats : use 1/2 pound cooked lean ground beef
Or
1/2 pound of white chicken breast ( boiled )

Next, 1 cup of white rice ( cooked
Use ( every-other-day)>>>  1 sweet potato or 1 average sized Yam  ( cooked and moist)
The Yam must be mushed or diced up for easy digestion

On the days you don't do a Yam or Sweet Potato : use 1/4 cup of green cooked peas or 1/4 cup of mushed up green beans - diced up small.

You can also give 2 tablespoon of 2 % low fat cottage cheese ( A few times per week as a snack)
Another snack is 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of Activia yogurt ( van flavored is fine)-
The cup sizes I believe are only 6 ounces ....

Please buy some Grain free Dry dog treats -  NO GRAINERS is a good brand - if you can find them at the local pet store - good for the teeth.

Supplements:
Every - other - Day : please give 1/4 to 1/2 Crushed Egg shell - must be very crushed...
or you can buy Bone Meal supplement -  your Yorkiepoo only needs a small dosage of the Bone Meal OR the egg shell .   Bone meal can be found at any health store.  Call around and see what you can find in Bone meal.

NuVET - Please give this baby 1/2 a teaspoon of NuVET Plus powder per day - mix into the dog food or into some small curd cottage cheese.
NuVET will balance out this home cooking - and it is EASY on the belly.... Easy to digest
NOT sold in stores - please go here:

Also, add a few little dashes of salt per meal.

I have many more recipes but you need to take this Slow ....
Start out with using Chicken a few days and then do the Beef.
Always drain out the excessive grease from the beef meats.
