Question
QUESTION: My dog has an upset stomach. He is lethargic and when he drinks water you can hear his stomach gurgling. Every so often I hear him let out a sound that is similar to vomiting but no vomit and its at a very low volume. Almost like a moan. He has not vomited up anything so I hope its just a upset stomach.

ANSWER: Hi Stephen:  Ok, If he is drinking and able to eat ... then it should pass soon.  BUT, if he is not eating much and drinking very little -Please get him to a VET.  He could have ingested something.... even poison.
You never know what they can get into.

For an old fashioned upset stomach  you can give Pepto Bismol - get the tablet or chew form.  Put it in some cheese or peanut
butter... **( he may not like the liquid form of this product)

** pepto-bismol *** The recommended dosage is 0.5 yo 1.5 ml per pound of body weight per day split up between two to four doses. This amount equals 2 teaspoons for every 10 pounds of body weight split up between 2-4 doses per day. This is effective for indigestion and minor stomach upset as well.

**** also recommend a bland diet of cooked rice and/or boiled chicken or beef for the 1-2 days.

Sure Hope this Helps!!!

QUESTION: Just thought Id let you know Scooby went to the vet today and after a x-ray I was told he has a large mass in his abdomen and an enlarged heart. He is now home in Hospice for the vet told me other than surgery there is not much he can do. I was told with the way his heart is pounding he could go at any time. He is 10 and has been through so much this past year I decided to let him rest and let nature take its coarse. he doesn't seem to be in pain so I pray God will have mercy and take him home. Thank you for your help.   Stephen Rocco

Answer
Oh, I am sorry... Well, at least you know what is going on with your pal.  Yes, care at home is the best choice for now... You can spend his last days next to him and giving lots of love.

If he gets any pain, I am sure your vet can give you something for him.  There are rectal suppositories you can put in his bottom that have pain medication in them.. I know he may not  be able to take anything by mouth.

I know if will be hard for you but he has been a good friend and pal.  You can do this for him in his last days...

Blessings..
