Question
Hi I own an American Cocker spaniel that has hypothyrodism.  I want to switch in giving him natural or herbal medication for his hypothyrodism.

Can you suggest a safe and effective herbal medication for my dog?

Thank you

Answer
Hi Caroline,

Glandular therapy or glandular thyroid supplements has shown to be helpful with hypothyroid dogs with or without the synthetic medication.
Due to the complexity of endocrine disorders it needs individual treatment by an experienced holistic/homeopathic vet. It isnt such that one particular dose or approach will work with all dogs, it is very individualized.
Stop vaccinations as this has been known to exacerbate the issue.
Excellent quality natural nutrition (cooked organic high quality human food, balanced with proper calcium,  mineral, carbs, proteins etc specifically designed for canines) helps with endocrine problems.
If caught in the early stages (and skin issues were  NOT treated with steroids prior) then  thyroid dysfunctions
can be brought back into balance with correct diet, glandular therapy and homeopathy.
Best of luck!!
