Cat diet

Question
My cat of 21 pounds gets a prescription for Scient Diet WD, and at times Eukanuba Low Residue.  Are there any other foods that have high fiber I can get at a store?
He gets it to keep his stool solid, not necessarily for weight loss.
Thanks!

Answer
Hello Bridgett-

There are no store brand foods that I am aware of that will help your pet. Most of the store foods are composed of animal by-products and can be very hazardous to your cats health.

Please be aware, Science Diet and Eukanuba blends have been known to give kidney and bladder stones in cats. Some veterinarians are no longer recommending these as a healthy and prescribed diet. I have a few clients who have been going through "stones" with their cats because of these foods and are very concerned. Please be careful and if you continue to use these foods be sure to have you cat checked regularly for stones. You will know if your cat has them the first sign is difficult and painful urination.

There is a blend of food that I highly recommend. My clients have switched their pets over and have had wonderful healthy results. The food is called "Life's Abundance". It is a little pricey but really worth it. It will save you money and heartache in the long run. The food
has: no corn or wheat, no by-products, no dairy, no artificial colors or flavors, no chemical preservatives added, high quality chicken and fish meal and eggs derived from human-grade processing plants,Nutrient dense with vitamins, minerals, fats and essential fatty acids, Powerful antioxidants from patented grape seed extract process and other natural sources,Probiotics for a healthy digestive tract, highly digestible and high energy and low fiber carbohydrates. You can purchase and research this food at www.healthypetnet.com. The low fiber carbs are better for your pet than a food blend with high general levels of fiber.
