Question
from what i've read these animals are to have no protein.  so what do i feed him?

Answer
Hello Bonnie -

A kitten suffering from this ailment does need protein just not high levels of it. All cats need protein regardless of condition because of their internal body systems.

There are a few low protein foods on the market. You would have to discuss these with your veterinarian as they are prescription formulas which must be purchased through your them. I know Science Diet makes a special blend of low protein food for pets.

I would be hesitant to recommend an all natural brand food to you because I know with them being all natural there protein levels would be normal if not a little higher. Natural foods are wonderful (the ones that I have researched and used) and really show a difference in pets overall health but I don't think this would help you at tis point. You could look into it and see what the protein ratios are compared to a Science Diet blend and if they match up go with the natural brand. Chances are the natural brand will cost A LOT less and will be alot better for your pet.

I have read and have had clients who had used Science Diet formulas for many years. Their pets have develops kidney stones, urinary problems and IBD from eating this brand of food for extended periods of time. I figured I would just let you know. However, if this is the best food to give your pet then do it !

I hope this information has helped you and your pet. I wish I could have given you better information but there really is not much available on your pets condition as far as diet requirements.
