Hello Julie -

The first thing to do is to add a supplement of Garlic powder to the food. Garlic is an anti-microbial and will help to fight and kill bacteria and infection present in the system. Don't be afraid to sprinkle it with a heavy hand, dogs love Garlic and he should eat it right up. The only draw back to adding Garlic to the food is flatulence. It may be a little stinky but the Garlic is doing its job by pushing the bacteria through the system. Just keep a couple clothes pins handy! Garlic powder is safe and highly effective for various ailments and can be used daily for long term use. Garlic can also be administered with conventional medications and anti-bitoics.

Another good supplement is Cranberry. The powdered capsules will work the best to sprinkle over the food. Cranberry helps to cleanse and support the urinary tract and will help get rid of the bacteria. One capsule twice a day should work well. If you can your pet take the capsule whole, it be a little more effective.

Give your pet lots of water to flush the system. As with humans, the more water that passes through the system the better it will be to clear the bacteria.

Avoid giving your pet treats with sweets or sodium. These factors can irritate the bladder and make the UTI and pain worse. Feed your pet the normal food, maybe add a little chicken or beef broth to the food for extra vitamins and give plenty of water.

You may want to clean the vulva or penis (sorry, you didn't specify in your question if your pet was male or female) with apply cider vinegar or Witch Hazel. Either one has anti-septic properties and will help soothe inflammation as well as rid the external areas of additional loitering bacteria. Try to do this after each time it urinates, if not at least 3-4 times per day.

If the Garlic and Cranberry supplements do not get rid of it, contact me again. I make an herbal remedy for pet UTI's and would be happy to give you more information about it. I have had much success with it and it has cleared most UTI's up within a few days. It is safe to administer with conventional medications and anti-biotics.

You may want to take your pet to a veterinarian just to be sure that in fact it is suffering from a UTI. You didn't give much detail in your question and I just want to be sure that you will be treating your pet for the proper condition. Feel free to contact me anytime with any questions you may have regarding this condition or treatment options.

I hope this information has helped you and your pet.

Hello Julie -

You may want to have your pet checked for kidney stones, sounds as though since these are reoccurring with constant urination and especially blood in the urine that he may have a more severe illness.

The best advice I can give you is take your pet to the vet and have them run some test, especially a blood test (red and white) and a test on the kidenys for proper function.

Try some of the remedies I have listed in my response but I think your pet may need a little more then what I have given here. Should kidney stones or another illness be an issue, feel free to contact me again. There are many natural remedies that can help for a variety of illness' and I would like to help you help heal your pet naturally if possible.

Sorry I cannot be of more help to you. Please keep me posted on his condition and changes.
