Question
My cat is about three years old and all of a sudden I been finding patches where the fur is missing. The skin underneath is not red or irrated. She is eating nurmaly and I have not changed her cat food. I'm not sure if it is because she is playing too rough with my other cat or not. My other cat doesn't have any symtoms. I know they are not fighting.

Answer
Hello Jackie -

There could be a few things causing you cat to lose hair. It is either a skin allergy or stress.

I need to ask a few questions about your cat's condition before I can give you proper advice. Please answer the following questions the best you can in detail.

Does the cat scratch?
How long has this been going on?
Does your cat presently have ear mites?
(Ears would be smelly and would have debris inside canal)
Are their small patches (lesions) on your cats lips?
Has your cat eaten or been exposed to anything out of the norm?
(New carpet, new house cleaning products)
Has your cat been faced with a stressful situation?
(I.E.: Did you move?, Have a child?)
Does your cat go outside?
What is your cat's age?
How long has she been around your other cat?

All cats are different, one may be suffering from a skin allergy and the other one be fine. One cat may be showing dominance over the other one which may be stressful.

Please get back to me as soon as you can and I will get back to you with more information when I see the results of your answers. If it is either a skin allergy or stress, there are a few natural treatments I can advise you on to help your pet.

Thank you and I will be in touch.
