Supplementing Dry Dog Food

Question
We have a 6month old male yellow lab. We feed him Purina Pro Plan Natural Lamb and Rice (an adult food we switched him to when he was about 3 months old. We heard that feeding puppy food to large breed pups for too long can make them grow too fast and not allow time for proper joint and bone growth and development.) We soak his food in warm water and he seems to love it. I want to add things to his food if there is anything that could benefit him. I have chickens that lay lots of eggs everyday and we get all different sizes. We get very small ones sometimes that we don't want to bother to cook with or that we cant sell. Is it safe to put raw eggs and the shell on the food? Also, what types of supplements would support his growth and a strong healthy long life. As kids, we unfortunately learned the hard way that a lot of constant strenuous physical activity from a young pup and throughout a dogs life, can wear them out even faster and make their adult life more painful. So we haven't run this pup nearly as much but we find other much less damaging activities to release that energy. Like swimming and just plain old walking. Also are there supplements I can add to keep away all types of worms that pose a threat to dogs? Is a garlic pill equivalent to garlic powder? And will garlic keep worms away? Thank you for your help! I love reading the Q&A

Answer
Hi Madeline:  Sure ,would be glad to help you.... Yes, there are some supplements you may want to add:
ALL very safe...

The eggs are fine with the shells.  I would do 1-2 eggs 3-4 x per week for your boy  ( small eggs 2-3)-  Good for the coat.....

Omega 3 is very much needed for joints/ hips and patella health.
