Pet rabbit ear inffection?

Question
My two year old rabbit has always been very energetic and active but just yesterday when I opened his cage, [he usually jumps right out]he just sat there.  We took him to the doctor and they prescribed him baytril and panacur twice a day.  The doctor says he might have an ear infection.  Hes gotten better but still isn't jumping out of his cage and still wobbling/bumping into things when he runs.  I was wondering if you know what it could be and if so, is there any other medicine we could use to help him get better.

Answer
Hi Emily.  I am not an expert on rabbits at all.  So do not really know what sorts of ailments are common or relate to them.  Yes, it could be an ear infection or blockage due to his balance being out of whack.  When our balance is not right, it can often be traced back to something wrong with the ears.  If he is feeling flat, then this too could be a sign that he has an infection of sorts.
You may want to contact Holistic Animal Medicines (www.holisticanimalmedicines.com) and email them or search their site for something suitable.  Although their products are categorized for dogs, cats and horses, most of the products are suitable for ALL species (including humans).  Just check with them prior to purchase.
Otherwise, all I can suggest is to finish off the course of medications prescribed by the vet and see how he is then.
Take care,
Silva.
