Answer
Hello Debbie -

I understand your concern and being raised on a horse farm myself I also feel your pain of not knowing what to do for an animal you care about.

The best advice I can give you is to contact your veterinarian or clinic, they will be able to properly stabilize the leg. If you do not administer the splint correctly you can injury the calf, especially at this young of age.

Bottle feeding is fine, be sure to discuss with your vet a good nutritional formula. This is just a baby and will need vitamins and minerals close to his own mothers milk.

You can really help this calf by contacting a vet. I don't want to see you try something and then be disappointed in the splint does not hold. Calves can be stubborn, be persistant, don't let your neighbors words discourage you.

I am very sorry that I cannot help you further. Please contact a vet or clinic, they are your safest and most reliabe source to help this calf.

Best wishes to you and Bo, you are both in my prayers.
