Question
QUESTION: I read yr answer to a woman who is having even worse cyst problem on her dogs leg than me (my boy will put weight on it) I don't want 2 do surgery unless forced. the treatment you recommended will it shrink the cyst or just help the ulcerating? I guess that's my real question- how can I shrink this cyst away cause it keeps swelling then shrinking some & right now it's pretty swollen & ulcerated? there has to be a poultice or something right? thank you

ANSWER: HI Debra
I feel that you really need to get a vet to look at, and properly diagnose your dog's leg.  Only then do we really know what we are dealing with.
You can try a homeopathic remedy called Baryta carbonica in the x4 potency.  You would need to find someone to make this up for you (such as a herbalist or homeopath).
I don't really want to suggest any type of poultice until you actually know what is wrong because herbs can be quite powerful and the wrong herb could cause other problems.
I am sorry that I can't answer any more at this stage.  Please do feel free to contact me again once you have more information on what the actual diagnosis is, and any thoughts on how it has come about, how long he has had it etc.. would be very useful in giving you an indepth answer.
With thanks,

QUESTION: actually i do have the diagnosis it is a cyst and the only option the vet wants to give is being put under for surgery because of my dog being very large. i also am a qualified vet assistant (though i have been a homemaker for the last several years to care for my girls) so i am ready for some other solutions. i'll see if i can find a herbalist or homeopath for the solution you suggested but if you have any other options i would appreciate whatever is the most effective, the hot compresses do take down the size of the cyst nicely and i've added the garlic into his diet to help prevent any infections that could arise. again thank you for your help

Answer
HI Debra
Thanks for confirming that.  I appreciate your expertise in the field.  Many people make assumptions as to their pets' health rather than getting a correct diagnosis from the vet.
A few suggestions:  if what you are doing is going well then that's great.  You may want to add Herbal Compound Tablets to his meals as these work really well at keeping infections away.  They contain many beneficial herbs and are available at:  http://www.naturalrearing.com/coda/p_nr_original_herbal.html

You may also want to use some Colloidal Silver liquid or Calendula ointment on the leg to help with healing.

Giving the raw garlic is great, but too much can cause tummy upsets, so it is best to go for a formula like the Herbal Compound.

You may want to get an antioxidant such as Maritime Pine Bark extract and add to daily diet to help with the overall health of cells in his body.

I hope this is useful for you.
