Excessively licking dog

Question
My dog sliced his pad open 7 days ago.  Since then we have been applying antibiotic crewm to it.  We tried to wrap the paw but this terribly upset him.  So we have left the paw unbandaged.  The wound is looking very good, he is healing up nicely.  Simon, our 60 lbs mut, has been liicking his paw, which is iexpected, but now he is starting to licking everything.  He is licking the wall, the floor, the window; basically anything that is around him.  What I am wondering is, is he stressed out or is it something else?  There are no vets in my area open 24/7 and I am nervous that the licking is a sign of something serious.

Thanks for the help.

Answer
Hi Rich,
excessive licking can be caused by pain or stress.  Purchase some "Cherry Plum" Bach Flower essence, and administer this to him - 4 drops, 4 times per day until he settles down.  If he does not cease within a few days then you will need to get him back to the vet.
All the best with this.
Silva.
