Question
Hi, my dog Toby is a 4 yr old cocka-pooh mix. He is about 25lbs solid. He has a habit of licking everything. His toys, his bones, the carpet the other dogs in the house, the couch and the air. I tried giving him a nuvet tablet that i ordered for my other dog Kaleigh but he vomited. (something he used to do daily when on other dog food) I feed him lamb and rice by blue buffalo. the rep for blue told me to give him parsley in his food every other day for his vomiting, said it would help settle his tummy.

do you know why he would lick everything? when he licks the air, he give quick short licks and bobs his head. I'm not sure if he's made a habit of licking or if he's missing something? Any suggestions?

Answer

valerian for canines
Hi Tammi, Well, Sounds like some OCD to me... Anxiety can cause a dog to do this excessive licking of the objects, people and the air.
Here is something that may take the edge off:
Valerian - give this at night in some WET dog food?  Blue Buff canned food:
SEE here:  1 capsule each night - Nature's WAY -
530 mg ( JUST 1 per day)

Boy, I wish your kid could take the NuVET - How about you try just 1/2 the NuVET dosage and hide in some WET food or even some low fat creamy cottage cheese/ or van yogurt.

After about 1 week on the Valerian, you will see it Kick in/ LESS licking and a calmer baby.
Don't worry, this is very safe and NOT a drug.
