Should I Euthanize my cat;

Question
I have a 14 year old cat with wet FIP. He recently had fluids drained from his abdomen. The blood work on Red was fine so the Dr.wasn't sure what was wrong. I suspected FIP. Well, I took Red home with a needle (or that plastic IV thing# in his arm. It's nicely bandaged. The thing is that, as expected, his health has been declining. He is comfortable. Still drinks water, purrs when I pet him, but sleeps a lot and won't eat. I made him a raw food diet today and force fed him. Otherwise I've been giving him juiced carrots and some chlorophyll #it's all I had short notice) His eyes look clear.
The thing is I know he will die. I can take him today and have him euthanized. Today is the last day we can safely leave that needle in his arm. It must be removed. Once that needle is taken out, when I euthanize, they will have to stick him again. I hate that! But I don't want to just euthanize because the time is ticking on that needle. I want to euthanize because we have tried everything and it's time. The truth is he can last a day, but what if this food helps and he lasts a bit longer in the comfort of his home?? It's worth more to me than gold.
This is not about me not wanting to let go. It's about me seeing a cat who is very sick but not in distress. Sleeping comfortably. What if he should die peacefully at home? But what if keeping him home brings on an uncomfortable death?? This is so very hard. I've heard of animals dying peacefully in their homes. I wish that were his case. Should I just take him now that he's already had a few good days at home and put him to sleep?
Anyway, any advice? I'm sorry to throw this on you.

Thank you for your time!

Answer
Yes Ruth, you did the right thing for your Red.  I know it was hard but he needed to be put to rest.  Blessings to you!

Hello Ruth,  So sorry about this! Very sad for you all.
The main thing is to look at his quality of life.  Red is not eating and wants to go to sleep.  Red is ill and worn out from his sickness.  Most pets do not die in their sleep.  I wish that was the case.

I think you know what needs to be done for Red?  Only you can decide.
Blessings to you!
